Sustainable Livelihoods Project for Rural Communities in Namibia-(funded Skillshare International by the Big Lottery Fund-UK) The project)

The project will be implemented in partnerships with KOMEHO NAMIBIA, NRDP and NANASO, each bringing specific expertise, experience and working methods and approaches that are most appropriate and best suited to the specific group of beneficiaries.omeho Namibia facilitated the constructing a clinic at Otjimanangombe Village of Epukro Constituency of Omaheke Region.

The project aims at improving the livelihoods, health and economic status of rural households in four regions of Omusati, Oshana, Okavango and Omaheke in Namibia by



(1) improving food security through the development and implementation of an agricultural and natural resource management programme that includes the creation of an Appropriate Rural Technology Centre offering specific skills training and providing locally produced appropriate technologies;
(2) improving the health status of target communities by increasing access to clean water and sanitation facilities as well as providing basic hygiene education;
(3) strengthening the capacity of community based AIDS Service Organisations (CBASOs) to improve services delivery and develop sustainable livelihood programmes for People Living with HIV/AIDS (PLWHAs);
(4) establishing a revolving credit scheme for rural poor households enabling them to have access to financial resources for starting small businesses that could increase their household income and provide them with sustainable food production; and finally
(5) building the capacities of local partners to manage community projects enabling them to provide quality services to their communities.
